Trip Highlights:

Day 1 – 10 July | Journey Begins: Malabar Coast to the North

The Alpine Aura expedition begins as the team departs from Calicut by train at 1:30 PM. Leaving behind the Arabian Sea coastline, the journey moves through Kerala’s lush landscapes into the Deccan plateau. This long rail journey allows gradual acclimatization as the team transitions from humid coastal climate toward the northern plains of India.

The train continues across central and northern India, crossing multiple river basins and agricultural belts. This day is focused on travel bonding, orientation sessions, and preparation for the Himalayan phase of the expedition.

The team reaches Delhi early morning at 6 AM. Local sightseeing includes India Gate, Qutub Minar, Jama Masjid, and Red Fort — offering exposure to India’s historical and cultural layers. Overnight train or bus journey continues toward Jammu, the Himalayan foothill gateway.

The road journey from Jammu to Srinagar passes through mountain tunnels, river valleys, and the Pir Panjal range. The route follows the Jhelum River basin. Arrival and overnight stay at Srinagar.

Local sightseeing includes Dal Lake surroundings and a heritage walk through Downtown Srinagar, exploring traditional Kashmiri architecture, markets, and cultural zones.

The expedition climbs toward Sonamarg (“Meadow of Gold”) and crosses Zoji La Pass — the dramatic transition point between Kashmir and Ladakh landscapes. Visit Drass War Memorial. Overnight stay at Drass or Kargil.

The journey follows the Indus River. Enroute visit Lamayuru Monastery and Moonland — famous for its moon-like terrain formations. Arrival and acclimatization stay at Leh.

Cross Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. Descend into Nubra Valley — a rare cold desert where the Shyok and Nubra rivers meet. Stay at Nubra.

Explore Turtuk and Thang — culturally rich Balti villages near the Indo-Pak border. Experience unique Himalayan border culture. Return and stay at Nubra.

Travel along the Shyok River corridor to Pangong Lake — one of the world’s highest saltwater lakes. Stay at Merak village near Pangong.

Village interaction, high-altitude ecosystem learning, and trans-Himalayan landscape exploration. Overnight stay at Merak.

Return to Leh. Visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, Leh Palace, Leh Jama Masjid, and Leh Market.

Long mountain drive descending from the Trans-Himalayan plateau toward Himachal Pradesh via high-altitude passes and river valleys.

Visit Hadimba Temple, Vashisht hot springs, Mall Road, and Kullu Valley along the Beas River. Overnight bus to Delhi.

Early morning arrival in Delhi. Shopping and city exploration. Evening flight back to Calicut, completing the full Himalayan arc journey.
